Give a package of these canine treats to your favorite dog. Include a bone-shaped cookie cutter and a copy of the recipe for the dog owner! I make these all the time and I have even seen my human friends eat them they are so good!

Instructions

    • Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease cookie sheets. In a large bowl, combine one cup of rolled oats, 1/3 cup of butter and one cup of boiling water. Let stand for ten minutes. Stir in 3/4 cup of whole wheat flour ( you can substitute any flour you would like ), one tablespoon of sugar, one or two teaspoons of chicken or beef bouillon, one half cup of milk, one cup of cheddar cheese and one beaten egg. Mix well.

    • Spoon all-purpose or whole wheat flour into measuring cup; level off. Add flour one cup at a time to mixed ingredients in bowl. Mix flour after each added cup. This will form a stiff dough. On a floured surface, knead dough until it is smooth and no longer sticky; knead for about four minutes. Roll or pat out dough to 1/2 inch thickness; cut out dough with dog bone cookie cutter.

    • Place cut out dog bone dough snacks one inch apart on greased cookie sheets. Bake in 325 degree preheated oven for 35 to 45 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on rack. Store loosely covered. This recipe makes 3-1/2 dozen large dog treats or 8 dozen small dog treats.

If you want to add other flavors you can simply by changing a few of the ingredients such as sweet potato, pumpkin, peanut butter, cranberries, blue berries, banana, yogurt, you can add these separate or combine a few together you would replace the oats for any of these and instead of the water add olive oil, it’s simple gotta try them!!
